Désmoda to Aegon: “Hey, fun fact. Did you know that icicles actually make the perfect murder weapon? They’re sharp, they melt, and you’ll already be wearing gloves, so no prints!”
"Bold of you to assume I won't stab a bitch with ice not wearing gloves" Aegon grumbled back in a bit of a moody tone from where he'd begun to lag behind her in crossing the street. He'd lost his keys to his bike, only remembered about half of the night before and truthfully was both painfully sobering, had a wicked hangover and to round all that up was in a definite sour mood from other things as well. If this was a cartoon he probably would have had a rain cloud drizzling over his head and freezing his rather messy mop of blonde hair to his otherwise slightly reddened cheeks from the cold.
Continuing on he went kicking a piece of ice that had fallen off a nearby fence and went quiet again. Granted it was nice of her to have offered to walk him to his grandfathers to try and get home without needing an actual ride from anyone but he honestly wasn't in the happiest of moods so it went, well he was at this point merely going with the flow of things every step feeling forced by this point. The cold definitely didn't help.
Désmoda shrugged. She'd been trying to make conversation, but with Aegon, that tended to be rather hit-or-miss. "Alright," she said. "Who would you stab, then? Besides me; too easy," she teased.
Aegon glanced briefly at her, his expression still a bit flat. "My father in the fucking throat... Finally put him out of his misery at least" He stated a bit sarcastic sounding as he went kicking another ice chunk in the road. "And for the record I wouldn't stab you.... Even though you are at least half a perpetually obnoxious bitch" He added, his expression briefly lightening as he made the rather dry joke at her expense. From calling him a child to managing to drunk sit him she was, definitely something in his opinion. Hot? Definitely. But maybe he wanted to drink until he fell on his face or... As of right now slip and fall and crack his skull open on the ice. Sounded nice...
"Yeah?" Désmoda asked, intrigued. "I'd stab my mother, too, but more because she insisted on putting me through finishing school so I'd be a 'proper lady'. We can all see how well that turned out," she said, spreading her arms and spinning slightly.
"It takes one to know one," she teased back, "so I guess we're in good company." She thought for a second, then asked without preamble or apology, "Why won't your father just get euthanized? Is he hanging on from spite?"
Aegon finally sort of chuckled as she went spinning like that. Yeah she definitely had a point there. She was clearly the most proper lady on the block! Ha! Briefly reminded him of his unbearable days at the boarding academy. Fancy uncomfortable uniforms and harsh rules. That hadn't lasted long for him of course. He'd been expelled near the end of his first year for getting found with a gun on the premises. Yeah fun times.
"At this point probably.... He's making sure he makes all our damn lives as unbearable as humanly possible before he goes out" He mused rolling his eyes a bit at the mere mention of it.
"Unbearable, really?" Désmoda echoed. She'd only seen Viserys once or twice and he'd seemed boring and unremarkable, checked out into his own little world, if you asked her. His wife, on the other hand, wasn't remotely over the hill, yet acted every bit the miserable harpy, from what Désmoda could tell. She didn't consider it wise to insult Aegon's parents to his face, though, so she kept those thoughts to herself and waited for what he had to say.
To Aegon it didn't take much anymore. Those disdainful looks he might be lucky to get if his father bothered to look at him at all. Which mind you was ALWAYS at the worst of moments. Like the time a few days ago he'd actually bothered to shout back at his mother in an argument and Viserys had wandered out to glare at him like he'd be hoped he'd combust. Before promptly telling him if he heard him yell like that again he'd kick him out. As if he hadn't heard that before and he didn't think his father would even remember the next time he did something but it still stung.
Add that to Viserys actually complaining about being bothered with the Aemond situation to the point of borderline rage. Here Aegon had thought the man didn't have enough energy for anger left! Always proving them wrong right?
"Oh come on ..." He suddenly whined out loud beginning to slow as he looked ahead and spotted a dark green colored SUV parked ahead. Of course! Of course she'd be there! Now he'd be lucky to just borrow the Impala for even a short time. Sober or not ....
He was about to announce what a terrible idea this was when he saw the front door opening and even heard Alicent happily talking as she came out. Well at least she didn't seem to be in a bad mood but, thinking fast Aegon suddenly moved and full bodied Désmoda, shoving her off the sidewalk to hide behind a rather tall bush line around the house just before his grandfathers and well knocked her back into the snow in the process, tripped on a shoelace and ended up landing on her a bit hard letting out a groan.
"Hello?"
He heard his mother call and for a moment went a bit wide eyed hand shooting to cover Désmoda’s mouth with a hand to shush her.
"Oh my god I didn't think you'd answer! Yes I got your package! Are you coming this year!?" Alicent finally made it clear despite their rather noisy attempt to hide she hadn't seen them or heard them.
Aegon let out a breath of relief and rolled to the side onto his back in the snow now. Close one....
Désmoda gave Aegon a questioning look. She was more than a little ruffled at having been manhandled like that, and if it had been anyone else she would be making plans to tie them up in her basement and torture them for a week. But hearing the voice sound from round the bush, she understood. Aegon didn't want to be seen by his mum. Why, she could only guess at.
She scooted closer to him to whisper in his ear, "Just tell me to hide next time. Or 'Harpy incoming,' that would get the message across."
"Harpy?" He replied look serious for a moment before he couldn't help the laugh that soon drifted from his mouth. No he couldn't help it at all at this point that was absolutely TO fucking funny. Probably a good thing Alicent’s voice had faded as she was in her car by now. Moving to push up from the snow slowly so he was sitting he let out a sigh as his laughter died down a little. Then hearing the car taking off he finally moved to stand brushing the snow off his arms.
"Would you prefer banshee?" Désmoda asked, getting up as well and linking her arm with Aegon's. "Kelpie, perhaps? Or kappa? No, I don't think either of those are known for screeching," she mused. "Perhaps a bird of prey?"
"I mean I always thought she sounded like an angry troll ...." He replied bluntly, hands moving into his hoodie pockets he now moved to walk beside her around the bushes and towards the front porch of the house his mother had just left. Now mentally praying Otto wouldn't go calling her back for him. He looked sober enough right? Shit he was so sober it HURT! Literally.... Moving to the door he went to open it and found it locked. "Paranoid old man..." He muttered before moving to spam hit the doorbell over... And over... And over
Désmoda grimaced at the sound of the bell. It hurt her head, too, and she wasn't nearly as hungover as he was. She fished some Advil out of her purse. "Hold this," she directed him, then went looking for the mini-bottle of water she should have had.
Taking the bottle Aegon looked at it for a moment stopping with the bell for a moment. Though the door was already opening to reveal his grandfather who had the phone to one ear and a rather disapproving look on his face.
"Do you mind?" He sort of shot at Aegon with an irritated look before moving to open the door his gaze briefly looking towards the blonde. Judgement nearly as readable as large print in a book. Still he was not yet commenting due to being on the phone evidently.
"Yes it's Aegon, look I'll make a few calls about it. We'll figure it out. No... No I doubt it's your brother. He's daft but far from that stupid" Otto continued into the phone as he now moved back through the large foyer ignoring Aegon’s curious look and raised eyebrow. Clearly they were dealing with somewhat of another issue and judging from his grandfather’s voice it was probably important.
Unshockingly Aegon had no idea what it was. Shrugging it off he moved to close the door for the moment behind them and simply sighed as he watched the door to the office close just a few feet ahead to their right. "Well I guess we're waiting.... " He muttered not sounding to shocked. Either that or, he'd already started into the hall and through the first small foyer before passing a large sliding barn bathroom door and fancy carpet of the middle room then finally he was heading into the kitchen. He'd just take it; thing hardly got any use anyway since it had been his grandmother’s car.
Désmoda found the water bottle after a moment and went to grab the aspirin back. She took three herself and then offered a couple to Aegon as well.
She returned the older man's judgmental glance with a sarcastic, saccharine smile. What, Aegon wasn't allowed to have friends? Or was it a woman thing?
She followed Aegon inside and made herself comfortable, sitting on a kitchen counter and swinging her legs. "Say," she asked conversationally, current irritation kicking her manners right out the window, "do you have any family members who don't suck gangrenous donkey balls?"
"Um ... No not really.... " Aegon replied from where he was currently distracted digging through the drawer in the kitchen. One down and another to go he was soon pulling the keys out of one and closing it. One he had them he closed it and shot her a look. "Come on let's get.... I'm fuckin starving" he added not even waiting around for his grandfather to come back out from whatever that phone call was about. He could find out later.
Moving for another exit from the kitchen and through the large living area he was soon opening the door out into the Garage. Hopefully whoever it was, probably Larys or someone kept his grandpa busy long enough for them to dip. Oh right and hopefully this shit had fucking gas. Unlocking the car he was soon heading around to climb in the driver’s side, hand moving up to the visor to hit the garage door.
Désmoda didn't need to be told twice. She hopped off the counter and followed Aegon out and into the car. She was mostly in it for the company; her palate was rather... discerning, and from most of the stuff she'd seen Aegon put in his body, she would guess that his wasn't. She'd pick something up after they parted ways if she didn't like where he chose.
"Ok what are we eating ... I really don't care"
Booyah first question the moment she'd climbed in. Not that Aegon had a clue she half expected him to choose but that's what definitely set them apart. She could wait but ... He literally didn't care half the time. So long as it wasn't something TO fucking strange like frog legs or nothing but a pile of green.
Starting the car he moved to flip on the heater before finally putting the car in drive and pulling out just past the large black SUV parked just outside. Then turning onto the street he was soon driving off and finally glancing at her again a bit expectingly. "Going once.... Going twice .. " he mused a bit smartly.
"Indian," she answered after juggling between Indian and Thai for a moment. "There's a Punjab Palace off Main, near this bookstore. I'm craving flatbread and yellow curry."
"Aight" Aegon replied with a bit of a shrug. Wasn't the most unusual of choices. Especially since his older sister and nephews were into that kind of food especially. Would have been a Jace choice back in the day. Slouching a bit in the seat as he drove he'd again fallen silent for a time until he was finally turning onto Main street. "Hey um, you don't happen to have anything more along the lines of.... Not Advil do you?" He asked casually briefly glancing over at her.
Désmoda laughed. "Only if you want to wake up a week from tomorrow in the Bahamas with no memory of said week," she said. "My cousin and I are experimenting with a new tincture and we haven't found the right dilution yet. We're being smart about it and running simulations first before testing on real humans, but as lifelike as Mad Tech robots can get, it's still hit-or-miss. We'd like to get as close to 'hit' as possible." Of course, she did have some more mainstream drugs at her club, but it wasn't like she was about to advertise that. "Why? Are you in that much pain or do you need to escape?"
"Ok ok don't tempt me I may just volunteer.... Sounds like a trip" Aegon smarted back at her. It had been worth a shot at least. Considering the Advil was just scarcely doing jack shit and he was already starting to jones for where he was gonna get his next fix. Whatever form it took though usually he did tend to go downers. His favorites of course being alcohol, pain pills, or if he was really wanting to spend an entire month of regret he had ventured into Heroin land a few times.
"Well you're fucking blunt. As of now ... Both" He replied a bit blandly. Though there were probably other options for pain considering he wasn't exactly dying but... Still it was one of those days he had already mapped out in his own head as. Food, drop Des off, somewhere in between get something that would knock him out for the day. At least until tonight when he actually had plans to go play Demolition with friends. ALSO fucked up but that was just a given. Couldn't tell which driver was drunk when everyone was SMASHED right!?
"A trip to Hell and back. The side effects are, I understand, unpleasant."
She nodded and thought a moment. "I've nothing on me at the moment, but I know where we can get something," she relented. "Just... You didn't get it from me, and I take no responsibility for the side effects."
"Shiiit I'm down. Don't worry my lips are sealed. Who are you?" He teased with a bit of a wicked smirk as he pulled into a parking space outside of the restaurant she'd requested. Food still sounded like a good idea first considering he was practically ravenous at this point. Best to at least get something in his system before taking off with something like that. Moving to open the door he hopped out and shut it heading for the front of the car where he briefly paused to wait on her.
Désmoda strolled over and ahead of Aegon, then went in and ordered her naan and yellow curry, along with a couple milder, sweeter curries.
"I've got this, if you like," she said to Aegon.
"Yeah okay" Aegon replied with a bit of a shrug from where he also now stood waiting having already ordered fairly quickly after her. Moving to slide his phone into his pocket he sort of just seemed to be staring at this point while waiting. He definitely still felt like trash and maybe even progressively more so the longer the morning had gone on.
Désmoda got them a seat close to the counter so she could get their food immediately when it came up. Maybe eating would help Aegon feel better. Why did she care? Ehh. It would pass. She went and asked for to-go boxes just in case he needed to leave.
