How the other had come to travel so far north in these strange lands? Well a question for a latter time as he was here. Nothing but long roads and pine trees stretched for miles and the occasional howls of wolves. Or should I say hounds? For that was the distinctive sound that echoed through the trees that lined the road in which Faustus traveled. Ten hounds, massive black dogs with spiked collars and one female. Her hair a bright auburn and her face tear streaked as she ran almost naked save for her thin night garments.
She let out a scream as it seemed the dogs could be gaining on her. Though her eyes soon settled on the stranger and she let out a sudden scream. One of a desperate plea for help! Still pushing towards him though with a slight limp. Making it clear she'd at some point been injured. "help!!! Help me!!!!!" Her voice finally came in a panic as she reached the road. The dogs not yet in view but their howl's were certainly growing louder.
Faustus was out exploring this land he and his... Well, he wouldn't exactly call them "friends"... had come to when he heard someone scream.
"Well," he thought to himself, "I'm bored and I've nothing else to do. I suppose I ought to rescue her."
Out loud, he called, "Miss? Yes, hello, where are you?", hoping to use the sound of her voice to find her more precisely.
It was then she was but suddenly bursting through some bushes and out onto the dirt road. Her panicked eyes landing on the stranger she seemed to breath out in relief. "Hel... Do.. " none of her words finished as she only ended up gasping to catch her breath. Then hearing the dogs drawing closer she was suddenly moving towards Faustus as if to rush to him for help. Little food that did her however as rather suddenly and arrow came whizzing through the nearby trees. Immediately stick into her back she let out a bit of a cry, her body stiffening before she fell landing hard in the dirt. At this point still alive but writhing, sobbing even not far from the man's feet.
A whistle came then, that of a human close by and out of the bushes came first a female. Dark brown hair and rather tattered dark clothes, her too dropped down so low if she'd had cleavage she'd have been giving a full view. "Hello there!!" She greeted loudly, friendly sounding even as she headed towards them.
Faustus watched dispassionately as the woman got shot by an arrow and collapsed. He walked over to her and pulled the arrow out, then inspected it curiously.
Hearing the bushes rustling, he looked up and saw the new girl. "Greetings," he called back. "Whom might you be?"
"Oh my name's Myranda! My sincerest apologies see me and my boyfriend..... We were playing this game and ..." She suddenly stopped and looked around seeming a bit confused. "Oh my I wonder where he got off to" She added so innocently it was only the sounds of the whimpering of the dying female that held reminder this was no normal situation. That and three very large dogs had suddenly came wandering out of the woods tails wagging as the neared Myranda.
"Hello Myranda, I am Faustus Blackwood, High Priest of the--oh... Well, I suppose it doesn't matter here." He caught himself in the middle of his usual introduction. "It is not good that your boyfriend has wandered off. A woman should not be traveling alone. Are these your dogs or his?" Faustus asked.
"His, yes it quite strange. He was just here.... Oh well I suppose I'll simply have to find my way home on my own" She replied a bit sad sounding as she drew a bit closer. "unless .... You're a very strapping man. Perhaps you could accompany me.... I'm sure my daddy wouldn't mind" She purred as she drew ever closer a sort of sweet smile on her face as her hand gently touched his arm. All but ignoring the sounds of one of the dogs low growls.
"Your father wouldn't mind, but why should I dishonor your boyfriend? I'm afraid you're on your own, ma'am," Faustus demurred bluntly. "I wish you luck in reuniting with him."
"He wouldn't..." Myranda began still seemingly attempting to keep her act up. However as she began to speak she paused at the sound of two more dogs heavy footsteps coming near and the sound of someone clicking their tongue as if tsking in disapproval.
"Now now ..... Is that anyway to treat a lady who's asked for your help?!!" The young dark haired male mused all to loudly from where he stood near a tree, bow still visibly in hand though he'd yet to dock another arrow.
"Ramsay!! He's being mean to me!!" Myranda immediately whined stepping back and looking both sad and angered as she pouted.
"If she's foolish enough to travel beyond five paces behind her husband -- forgive me, boyfriend -- outside of their home, then she deserves what's coming to her. Much like this," Faustus said, toeing the woman on the ground. Noting the bow in the man's hand, Faustus held up the arrow and made to hand it back to him. "This must be yours."
Faustus scoffed at Myranda's histrionics. "Compose yourself, woman, you're embarrassing yourself," he scolded.
Ramsay chuckled a bit his stride not slowing as he neared other than he soon gave a whistle towards the dogs. "HEAL!"
Coming to a pause he reached to take the arrow from the man before looking to Myranda with a bit of a smirk. "Composed yet?"
Oh she glared at him like he'd just insulted her more deeply than he could have. "Fuck you Ramsay!" She snarled at him before moving to Huff past and for the side of the road.
Ramsay made a bit of a face as if in shock before looking after her "Ey you aren't going to stick around?! Thought you wanted to watch!!?" He called after her before side glancing to Faustus. "Women am I right? So dramatic" He added nonchalantly twirling the arrow in his hand as he turned to look down at the other woman who was crawling on the grounds. Seemingly still attempting to crawl away. His boot soon found her hand crushing it beneath so that she let out a sudden cry.
"Just tell the dogs to eat her already I want to go home!!!" Myranda shouted from a several paces away. Very clearly worked into a bit of a tiff still.
Faustus nodded. "Women, indeed," he said with a snort of distaste. "This one seems particularly impatient. Well, girl, if you want to go on home, you should go!" he called to Myranda. "Your own safety be damned if you're going to be unpleasant."
