"We got one…. Milo god damn it! Get your fucking shit together there's a guy approaching the fucking door!!"
The voice of William over the radio caused Milo to nearly jump with a start from where he'd been sitting at the desk within the large rail Nuka-Rail station. "Shit…" he cursed, light blue hues looking to where he'd just managed to burn his finger with the small blow torch he'd been using on a piece of metal he was shaping for the robot that sat turned off and sitting near the desk. Damn thing was seriously driving him fucking mad. But William was right, he needed to focus being as he'd volunteered to help with this shit. Moving to pick up the radio from the desk he soon went hitting the button. "On it!" He announced before moving to get up rather quickly. Hand moving to flick the lights on near the front desk. Pulling the hood of his black hoodie down he stopped ever so briefly to make sure he looked as professional as possible. Hair spiked just perfectly, a pair of rather clean looking glasses marched with a long sleeve button up to hide the tattoos. Perfect!
The gimmick? A radio broadcast across the entire nearby part of the commonwealth set to invite people to a brand new settlement! "Nuka-City! Come in down for a rip roaring good time! Supermarket twenty four seven! New housing being built! There's a place for you at Nuka-City U.S.A!"
Absolutely 0 mention of raiders. 0 mention of the status of the city. In reality the place located deep in a mountain valley nearly two hundred miles from where they currently were… was nothing more than a death or life sentence trap for anyone foolish enough to think otherwise. The Nuka-Rail station was mostly empty. A few things left over from the gunner mercenaries who'd once been stooping here but otherwise? Not even a Ghoul or rad rat in sight. And the train still ran! Fully powered by Nuclear batteries back and forth on a circular rail. It basically ran itself once it was powered up. Which, was why Milo was here. To act as a rail attendant, but in doing so he had to appear as …. Not a raider as possible. Which thankfully for him wasn't that hard. The Operators had always been rather clean kept in comparison to everyone else and even while on a dirtier job were known for their snazzy suits or leather mixed with armor over the top.
"Faster…." William added again and from the sounds of it just to be bitchy.
"Are you in charge here? Last I checked this was Nash's thing? Shut up" Milo smarted back as he moved down for the front Kiosks and just in time to see a tall brunette man stepping through the front doors. "Traveler, I'll holler back at you soon" he spoke now within ear shot of the stranger. Then moving to turn the radio down he smiled at the other. "Welcome to the Nuka Rail station! How many traveling today? Just the one?" He asked, his voice keeping an aura of friendliness to it as he moved for the desk and sat reaching to turn on the computer screen. For a moment his gaze remained there and he sat back eyeing the other curiously before sort of chuckling. "Nice turtle neck by the way, hope you packed a few of those. Gets pretty cold up there in the mountains, even in the valley" He added, smiling briefly as he moved to sit back in his seat.
Trent swallowed apprehensively. He was afraid of trains, but they seemed to be the most efficient way to get around. So he would try to get used to them. Exposure therapy, it was called. He wished his boyfriend and son were here with him. They should have been, but....
"Um, yeah. Just one." Trent tried to keep his voice from shaking as he smiled weakly at the rail attendant. "Wh-where does this one go? Again?" he asked apprehensively.
"Only one place. It's literally on the sign" Milo replied briefly looking a bit thrown off by the guys response and how, apprehensive? He seemed to be. "I'm gonna assume you heard the broadcast and are trying to get into the city? Yes?" He added trying his best not to sound as though he was being in any way disrespectful but boy was that HARD! What weirdo just comes into a station like this with little to no knowledge where the thing would actually take him? A part of him would have actually called that adventurous if this guy hadn't seemed hardly the adventuring type at all.
"Sign?" Trent repeated, looking round. Crap. He hadn't seen the sign. He'd been too busy working up the nerve to approach the station. This place has a strange vibe and Trent decided he didn't like it.
"Yes, I'd like to go into the city, please," he said with only slightly more confidence than he felt. God, what was he getting himself into?!
"Jaska get the power on back there so we can get this train moving soon" Milo spoke now into his walkie this time as opposed to immediately responding to Trent. Then moving to pull something up one the computer on the desk he then glanced back at Trent. "Name? Don't worry about I.D they'll handle it at the gates" He added, briefly glancing up as he spotted his brother finally wondering in and looking a bit annoyed. However William didn't stop or even speak to Trent and merely went pushing through an employees only door vanishing.
"Trent Maddock," Trent replied uneasily. He was getting a bad feeling about all of this. He hadn't been on a train in... He couldn't remember when. But then, it was fully possible he'd only psyched himself into developing a fear of trains as part of piggybacking off his ex's personality. Were they really so scary? He'd find out today.
